PhenoVation has developed several imaging systems that are capable of measuring photosynthesis efficiency and the absorption of chlorophyll and anthocyanin. Moreover, our systems can measure morphological parameters, to assess the plants regarding their growth and development. These systems are a great addition to your research, as the obtained images and data will ensure objectivity. Most importantly, they allow you to capture the performance of the entire plant.


Because of our turnkey delivery, you can start working with the systems straight away. Analysis software is included in the system’s purchase.

The following systems are designed for photosynthesis measurements, each with their own specialties: 

Measuring photosynthesis and pigment absorption

The PlantExplorer XS is an excellent entry-level model for obtaining objective, photosynthesis-related data for your research. This system measures chlorophyll fluorescence, the ratio of absorbed light in the context of chlorophyll and morphological characteristics. The system can be used for different research purposes. These include single plant measurement as well as imaging well plates, for instance. Due to its compact design, it won't take up much space, and is easily positioned. 

Modular multispectral imaging

The PlantExplorer Pro features a modular design that can be detached from its lower half – the  cabinet – and installed on XYZ structures in greenhouses. All the main components for analysis are located at the very top of the structure. The bottom half of the cabinet can be customised to suit your needs. A smaller version can be ordered to suit a tabletop, for instance, or a taller version may be ordered to accommodate larger plants.


This system is able to measure areas up to 50x50 cm, as well as multispectral parameters.


Integration into phenotyping systems

The Plant Explorer Pro XL is specifically developed for integration into plant phenotyping systems. These are modular systems which can be used to assess plants in trays, pots, or other plant carriers on photosynthetic performance.


It can image areas up to 80x80 cm2. This system is also able to measure multispectral parameters.


Automatic phenotyping

The PhenoMate XYZ system is designed to automatically measure several hundred small to medium-sized plants and can be used during the entire cultivation process, as it is equipped with ebb and flow systems to irrigate crops.


This system can also measure multispectral parameters.


GFP/RFP Expression

The PlantExplorer GFP/RFP can measure the photosynthetic performance of the crop. This system may be used for different research purposes, as it is able to measure multispectral parameters, as well as GFP/RFP expression
